French Bread Pizza

1 loaf French bread, split lengthwise
1 cup prepared Pizza Sauce *
Your favorite toppings (see tips)
8 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese, optional

* Prepare pizza sauce as directed on the package.

Slice French bread lengthwise. Lay the two halves on a cookie sheet with the sliced side facing up. Place under broiler and toast until lightly browned. Spread Pizza Sauce evenly over the top of the bread. Add your choice of meat and vegetables (see tips) to the pizza. Add mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired. Place back under broiler and toast until the cheese is bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.

Tips: Since this pizza is only broiled and not baked, the toppings need to be cooked before adding them to the pizza.

Sliced pepperoni: This is fully cooked when you buy it. But you can get rid of a ton of fat if you microwave it before putting it on the pizza. Spread it out in a single layer on a paper towel covered plate. Microwave for about 45 seconds. 

Link Sausage: Slice it and do the microwave routine just like the pepperoni.

Bulk Sausage: Crumble and brown it in the frying pan until it is fully cooked.

Vegetables: Sauté in a frying pan before adding them to the pizza. This not only cooks them, but also gets rid of the water in them, so your pizza doesn’t get soggy.
